Rochester Area Neighborhood House is The Women’s Fund’s oldest nonprofit partner in assisting local women. It was the logical choice for the first grant because its focus closely mirrors the philosophy of The Women’s Fund – providing relatively modest amounts of money at critical times can literally change lives. Over the years, The Women’s Fund has awarded emergency Mini-grants for food, housing, transportation and education, assisted women in completing their education, funded emergency medical expenses and in 2014 funded an educational program called Empowering Women in Need with Job Seeking/ Job Keeping Skills. Rochester Area Neighborhood House has been the community’s emergency safety net for 50 years. We help families who might be struggling, we address their immediate needs first and then assist them towards sustainability. The Women’s Fund has enabled us to direct funds to local women in need and has been there for us.

Imagine looking for a job or returning to the workforce without appropriate clothes. If clothes make the man, then they are equally important to women and that is where Career Dress begins. The Women’s Fund has supported The Career Dress Boutique since 2004 with grants to Pump it Up, BRA-Vo, Essentials and most recently Your New Job Starts Here. Whether its shoes and purses, under garments or outerwear The Women’s Fund is committed to helping women prepare for their future. The volunteers at Career Dress would like to acknowledge and thank The Women’s Fund for its generous grant. The monies received went towards the purchase of brand new “plus sized” clothing for our guests who are embarking on interviews or beginning employment. Career Dress is committed to promoting the economic independence of low income women residing in Oakland County. With your support, our volunteers have assisted over 3,800 women change their lives with a change of clothing.

HAVEN has been a partner with The Women’s Fund from its earliest days. Starting in 2002, The Women’s Fund has awarded grants to improve HAVEN’s facilities, supported programs focusing on emergency transportation and housing, provided funding for the START Program (Safe Therapeutic Response Team), and the First Night Program. Most recently, The Women’s Fund awarded a multi-year grant for its Plant the Seeds of Hope Program assuring that future victims of domestic violence have a safe haven. The Women’s Fund has been such a terrific partner of HAVEN’s for many years. Through the grant programming we have been able to support so many women who now more than ever need the support of the entire community. In addition to funding, many members of The Women’s Fund have also given their support via volunteerism, helping to make connections with other organizations or individuals, sharing information of our services and more. The Women’s Fund is a vital partner to HAVEN and our work to eliminate domestic and sexual violence.

The Women’s Fund awarded a grant to the Older Persons Commission in support of its Acts of Kindness Program which provides assistance for minor home repairs and chores that enable local seniors to continue living independently in their own home as long as possible. Thanks to the generosity of The Women’s Fund, 92 year old Anita received a wheelchair ramp. She was thrilled to be able to leave her house safely for doctor appointments and more. Thank you to The Women’s Fund for supporting the seniors in our community.
